MUHAMMAD’S TEACHINGS TO MANKIND

ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ 'Āishah said, "The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, left my place contented and peaceful but returned to me saddened, so I enquired, he replied, "I have entered (2) the Ka’bah (3) and I wish I had not done so; I fear I may have caused my nation difficulty after I am gone (4)." Footnotes: (2) The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, meant by this that he had performed prayers inside the Ka'bah. (3) The most venerable structure in Islām, situated within the Sanctified Mosque of Makkah. During prayer, Muslims face in its direction, wherever they are in the world. (4) The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon was concerned about setting a Sunnah for Muslims after him to pray inside the Ka’bah; as entering it is not always possible. ”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِى ثَلْجٍ الْبَغْدَادِىُّ صَاحِبُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِىُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ تُكْثِرُوا الْكَلاَمَ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ الْكَلاَمِ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ قَسْوَةٌ لِلْقَلْبِ وَإِنَّ أَبْعَدَ النَّاسِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْقَلْبُ الْقَاسِى.

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “Do not talk much unless God be mentioned, for talking much without mentioning God hardens the heart, and among mortals, the most distant from God is the one with a hard heart." Click on ḥadīth to read more
