ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ Abu-Mahthūrah said that the call to prayer the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, taught him was nineteen phrases and the call to the start of prayer (1) was seventeen phrases. (1) The call to the start of prayer (iqāmah) is a shorter and quicker version of the call to prayer (athān) that is said to let people know that the prayer is about to start. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الزهد باب منه [ لا تكثروا الكلام بغير ذكر الله ]

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِى ثَلْجٍ الْبَغْدَادِىُّ صَاحِبُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِىُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ تُكْثِرُوا الْكَلاَمَ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ الْكَلاَمِ بِغَيْرِ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ قَسْوَةٌ لِلْقَلْبِ وَإِنَّ أَبْعَدَ النَّاسِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْقَلْبُ الْقَاسِى.
